Abstract

Defines the relative significance of THMs in preventing nitrification over the typical range of conditions encountered in drinking water distribution systems. Provides mathematical descriptions of THM impact on nitrification for inclusion in distribution system water quality models. Also highlights circumstances for which changes in source water quality or treatment practices could impact both THM formation and the potential for distribution system nitrification.
