Abstract

Phase 1 of the project (project 3177) developed quantitative real-time PCR assays to detect Group F adenoviruses in water. Phase 2 of the project (project 3181) focused on the occurrence of adenovirus in source waters, and developed treatment protocols for effective inactivation of adenoviruses by various combinations of UV, chlorine, chlorine dioxide, chloramine, and ozone. Phase 2 was published in 2012 and includes results from Phase 1.
