Abstract

Documents the types, composition, and quantity of non-treatment discharges resulting from drinking water utility operations, and the environmental impacts of such discharges. Generates data to develop an understanding of the issues important to the drinking water industry and state and federal regulators in order to facilitate effective communication and more pragmatic regulation. Also documents drinking water industry-wide practices regarding management of these discharges. Research partner: USEPA. Published in 2007.
