Abstract

This project developed a health risk assessment methodology to help utilities prioritize risk reduction measures for specific drinking water contaminants and communicate the relative risk posed by unregulated contaminants. The final report summarizes and compares methodologies, describes a methodology developed and/or adapted for cumulative health risk assessment, presents in summary form an analysis of risk reduction achieved nationally under the current regulatory framework, and examines the validity of a selected methodology with utility case studies. In addition to the report, the project produced the Relative Health Indicator (RHI) tool, which generates RHI values as output when chemical, microbiological, and water system information are input.
